This page of the site is dedicated to interviews with players that Town will come up against throughout our Division 1 campaign.

First up under the Rothwell Town microscope is top of the table Ryhill's ball playing centre half Richard Hirst. We first met Richard under the name of 'Peck' on the West Yorkshire League site and have been chatting with him ever since, a couple of us went to watch him and discovered he is a fine exponent of the raking cross field ball. Heres what he has to say about stuff:

Compared to division 2 its a lot faster and a lot more quality Players Playing.

What are your predictions for the top 2 and bottom 2 this year?

Sandy Lane, Kellingley         &         Featherstone, Ripon

What are your teams main strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths - Defensively sound, strong upfront.

Weak - Goalkeeper

What are your own personal strengths and weaknesses?

St - Two good feet, strong in the air.

Weak - Very morngy player at times, so temperament is a weakness

What is the best game you have ever played in?

Home Debut FA Cup 1st round qualifiers for Emley. Won 2 v 0.

Who is the best player you have played with?

Carl Tiler ex Barnsley

Played against Ben Thornley in a pre-season friendly for Emley. He absolutely raped me (not literally i hope, pro footballers and all that - ed). They brought another player on for us at left back and moved me to Centre-half. Second half went up for a header with Wayne Alison (AKA The Chief) He broke my nose and I had to be taken off.

Who is the star of the show at your Club this year?

Scott Horsfall (Striker). Superb touch. Class Player

What is the best thing to happen at your Club in recent seasons?

Selected to represent Yorkshire in a tour of Germany. At 16.

What is your best moment as a Football fan?

England Stuffing German 5 v 1. Gerrard what a player.

Losing to Germany at anytime. Pens World cup and European Champs.

Liverpool v Man U Charity Shield. Millennium Stadium.

What is the best goal you have ever seen?

There are lots but most of them belong to Robbie Fowler when at Liverpool.

What is the best goal you have scored?

Best Ive scored was against Ossett Albion Res for Emley reserves in the Semi Finals of the league cup. 1 a piece, 5 minutes to go and we were given a freekick 35 Yards out, 15 yards in from the right hand touch line. Hit it has hard as I could. The ball went straight into the top left corner and stuck in the stansion.

Who is the best player in the world in your position right now and why?

Thats a tough one but Ill have to go for Scumchesters, Rio Furryhands.  Cool Calm and seems to have stopped making a  f*&k-up a game like he did at Leeds.

Thanks to Richard for taking the time to be our Sleeping with the Enemy guinea pig. Watch out for more interviews in the coming months.
